GRFP Fellows

New Fellows

All New Candidates must: 1) accept or decline the award, and (2) declare Fellowship status for the upcoming year by the published deadline in April of the award notification year. The annual deadline will be shared via email, so be sure to keep track of communications received from NSF GRFP. This video provides information about the GRFP award, acceptance, and declaration process. To complete these steps, visit the NSF GRFP Website.

Please note. New Candidates must enroll in a graduate degree program consistent with the Major Field of Study proposed in their application. A fellowship will not be awarded in a different Major Field of Study from that indicated on the application.

Current Fellows

All Current Fellows must declare Fellowship status for the upcoming year by the published deadline in April by visiting NSF GRFP Website. This video details the declaration process.

If you are a Current Fellow with questions or issues regarding your Fellowship, please contact your Coordinating Official. A list of Coordinating Officials, by institution, can be found here.

The Fellowship is portable and can be transferred to a different institution of higher education if a Fellow chooses to transfer to another institution after completion of the first Fellowship year. After completion of the first Fellowship year, the Fellow can also pursue graduate studies in a different Major Field of Study. While the Fellowship is offered to the individual, the Fellowship funds are awarded to the institution of higher education at which a Fellow is enrolled and the institution is responsible for disbursement of the stipend to the Fellow.
